identity, book design, exhibition panels, web design
The Centre for Community Work in Western Bohemia, in partnership with the Centre for Further Education in the Cham district (VHS), has long been dedicated to documenting and reviving the cultural heritage of the Czech-German borderlands. Their joint projects focus on preserving the memory of places, traditions and stories connected with the former Sudetenland.

About the Project
The aim of the project was to capture ten specific examples of cultural heritage sites and traditions in Western Bohemia that have been successfully brought back to life in recent years, and to make them accessible to a Czech-German audience. The brief included developing a visual solution for both printed and exhibition outputs, as well as designing the structure and layout of a website as an additional form of presentation.
The project resulted in a bilingual book, a travelling exhibition and a web presentation — together forming a cohesive and accessible system of outputs. The result is a unified visual language that allows the project to be presented in different contexts over the long term, and supports a deeper understanding of the region's shared history.
The publication was printed by Dragon Press in Klatovy; the wooden exhibition panels were produced in collaboration with Arhis in Police nad Metují.

Idea
The concept of the project is rooted in the idea of rediscovery and renewal — ten places, monuments and traditions that have been successfully brought back to life. This principle is reflected in the visual language as a subtle yet legible motif of hope and continuity. Ten stories are suggested by small dots drawn from the map markings of individual towns; on the cover, they form a perforated motif — a trace in the material and in the memory of place.
The Czech-German character of the project is present in the title itself, which is divided by a slash into its Czech and German parts. Only together do they form a whole, referencing the shared space and history of the region. The visual layer works with botanical motifs tied to specific locations — ground elder, rose, anemone and nettle appear as quiet but meaningful layers that connect the stories of places with their natural environment.
Ten places. Ten stories that rekindle the memory of a landscape.
